Gratitude #7

Today I am grateful for the honesty of colleagues, friends, and family, for entrusting me with your innermost fears and joys. I also am grateful for change and the opportunities it harbingers.

I spent the day on a boat on the Severn River with colleagues from work, celebrating the end of a leadership training class. A gorgeous day, a slight haze on the river, but the breeze burnt off summer's swelter. We tooled around Annapolis, the Naval Academy, past the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and built deeper relationship. For it is the personal bonds in work that make work worthwhile.

One week into the 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge. So far, $31 dollars raised for hospice and my local crisis center. So keep posting your daily gratitude in the comments section -- I only count gratitudes, not general comments, because articulating a joy is half the fun. And sorta like laughing -- good for your health. Plus, three lucky 'grates' will receive a goody basket of hand-picked books and other treasures, plus a feature on my blog. Think quirky, think mushy, think gen-u-ine.

Peace, Linda

  1. I, too, am grateful for my work colleagues. They have become my best friends. The work we do is almost secondary to the relationships we have woven and most mornings I can hardly wait to get to work and tuck into our "morning yap."
Also, I've been trying to lose a couple of pounds (knocking myself silly for not starting sooner but I hate dieting, hate, hate, hate it). I've been very good the last couple of days, getting lots of exercise and eating healthy things. Last night I laid in bed with an empty, growling stomach and it was everything I could do not to get up and go stuff it.
    I am grateful I didn't.
(This is so cool, Linda. I'm enjoying your 30 Days very much!)

  2. That sounds like a lovely day...
I am grateful that my grandchildren enjoy talking to me, instead of perceiving me as someone they 'have' to visit.

  3. I don't have any work colleagues, and I'm kinda grateful for that. It means I get to spend time with my kids. I guess they are my work colleagues in a way, or my staff. I hope they don't decide to form a union...

  4. You got that right -- good relationships at work are what make it worthwhile going in. That's what I'll miss most when I retire (in the not to distant future). Fortunately, I won't lose contact completely since we've formed two once-a-month lunch groups, one a book club, and one a boys-day-out group.

I am really grateful I'll be able to maintain those connections.

  6. I am grateful for my friends and how they have stuck with me literally through thick and thin. They are my heroes.
