The Abridged Biography of an American Sniper--Up at SMOKELONG
Very, very pleased to share my story The Abridged Biography of an American Sniper at Smokelong Quarterly. A huge thank you to Christopher Allen, guest editor who chose my story, and the rest of the good folks at Smokelong. And an equally gargantuan thanks to Mark Kerstetter, who illustrated the story with this amazing broken stem of wheat.
I feel like I've just read an entire novel in so very few words. It was a perfect blending of poetry and prose in all it's beauty and ugly truths. Wonderful, Linda.
Thank you all for reading this story. It is a character sketch for a larger story in my latest novel-in-process. You'll see more when the interview by Christopher Allen comes out later this month.
Lovely to come read this, Linda. It's a wonderful piece of writing -- I'll remember this one a long long time. Such a complete work here. Such a full and bitter and heartbreaking life (lives) painted here. Nice artwork too -- fits so well. Looking forward to the interview!
By day, I'm an uptight and proper academic - you know, a publish or perish type who resides in tall towers with the likes of Rapunzul. In the evening, I morph into a lovable mom and wife, play with my children, hang with the hubby.
But when darkness falls and the house stills, I write.
Wow! Excellent work. That was sick.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations friend!
DeleteTruly amazing. I remember seeing some of this earlier, but you have pulled it together and shaped it into a powerful piece of writing. Thank you.
