great imagery in a short piece. the signs were particularly vivid to me, and something I'd never heard of before.
ReplyDeleteGreat story, Linda. I particularly liked the wolfish imagery in the end - it gave a wary feeling to the men.
ReplyDeleteLoved it!!
ReplyDeleteLoved your story, Linda. The line about the bed as cold as the root cellar was perfection.
ReplyDeleteThanks all for reading! I started this story as a response to one of the 52/250 themes (password), but it got larger than 250 words. The initial inspiration came from a guest 'preacher' who re-enacted a hobo for his sermon. Soup Bean Annie was a real person, and I was captivated by her kindness, and wanted to understand the reason for her charity. Hence the fiction. Peace...
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and what you are doing to help. I just found your blog. I raise my glass to you. Thanks.
