I saw this yesterday. I look at the stats for young adults (age 18 - 24) and see how they have changed from 2002 to 2008. I can't help but feel that a good deal of that is due to the Harry Potter series. I think the HP books went a long way to hooking young readers, who will hopefully go on to be lifetime readers. Thank you very much, Ms. Rowling. ~jon
By day, I'm an uptight and proper academic - you know, a publish or perish type who resides in tall towers with the likes of Rapunzul. In the evening, I morph into a lovable mom and wife, play with my children, hang with the hubby.
But when darkness falls and the house stills, I write.
So, I guess we write, we read and we hope.
