This morning I put my son on the bus, dressed in long pants, a button-down shirt, and a tie. The long pants was a big deal -- he wears shorts all the time, even on snowy days. But he understood the importance of today. Will clambered aboard with his younger sister, and as the bus took off down the road, sadness swelled over me, the same sadness I felt six years ago when he left for his first day of kindergarten. The last bus to elementary school. The last pitch in the minors. The last stroller ride, the last diaper, the last breast-feeding.
So many lasts yet to come -- and so many firsts.
How time flies.
Peace, Linda
